It's Country Music time

With everyone stompin' and hollerin' to Beyonce's Texas Hold 'Em, country music is having its day in the sun.

In a time when current events can be overwhelming, it's no wonder that a genre all about heartbreak and humour has become the perfect foil for a new generation.

Did you know that Ireland hosts an annual country festival? Cowboy boots and hats will be on display as thousands descend on Belfast for the C2C: Country to Country festival. Inaugurated in 2013, the first festival was held in Dublin's 3Arena but has since relocated to Belfast to accommodate larger crowds.

Simultaneous C2C festivals are being held in London and Glasgow after earlier events were staged in Rotterdam and Berlin last weekend.

Past attendees has raved:

"It feels great, it's so good for our community, I know its going to have a great turnout," an audience member told BBC News ahead of the show.

American country music is "definitely getting more popular", she said.

"It's a bit more trendy, on the internet, Irish country [music] is still a bit old-fashioned... There will be more young people attending than there used to be."

Well, boy howdy, we couldn't be happier to hear this.
